My approach

Strategic learning architecture across every modality.

I design the full cycle: analyze performance gaps, build the right learning ecosystem, implement with cross-functional partners, and evaluate whether the work changed behavior, reduced risk, improved readiness, or saved money.

My current graduate work in Immersive Media Communication at the University of Oregon strengthens this direction through extended reality, immersive learning, human-centered design, user experience, strategic communication, and emerging technology strategy.

My approach is intentionally resourceful. Before recommending a new platform or costly tool, I evaluate what the organization already owns, how data is currently being captured, and whether existing systems can be optimized to close the gap. I test new tools when they make sense, but I use evidence, not hype, to determine whether they improve performance.

Measuring what matters

Kirkpatrick in action: Top Gun Driver Development

For Knight-Swift’s newly developed Top Gun program, I partnered with four-million-mile professional drivers and operational leaders as subject matter experts to identify elite driver behaviors, decision-making patterns, safety expectations, and performance indicators.

Because the simulator-based program was being developed as a prototype, I built evaluation into the earliest stages. I used agile feedback loops, learner reactions, instructor observations, simulator performance data, and stakeholder input to refine the program before full implementation.

  1. Level 4Results

Connected the program to safety, readiness, consistency, and business value.

  2. Level 3Behavior

Evaluated whether drivers transferred simulator-based decision-making into operational performance.

  3. Level 2Learning

Used practice, checks, and confidence data to validate skill growth.

  4. Level 1Reaction

Collected early feedback to improve the prototype while it was still being built.

Project deep dive

Knight-Swift Transportation: technician development transformation

01

The challenge

Training records, certifications, and development requirements were spread across disconnected internal and Original Equipment Manufacturer systems. Shop leaders needed a clearer way to understand technician capability, readiness, and progression across 25 terminals in the United States and Mexico.

02

The work

I performed job task analyses, partnered with maintenance subject matter experts, defined core competencies and frequency of work, and modernized the shop technician program so training aligned to job requirements, certification expectations, and advancement pathways.

03

The ecosystem

I overhauled the learning management system, organized training into pull-learning pathways, integrated Original Equipment Manufacturer learning records through a custom import process, and created dashboards for technicians, trainers, and leaders at multiple levels of the organization.

04

The business value

The solution gave technicians clearer visibility into how to grow, take initiative, and progress to the next level. Because much of the training aligned to industry-standard certifications for semi-truck technicians, the learning became portable, career-building, and valuable for recruiting, retention, and workforce planning.

Enterprise modernization

Turning underused learning platforms into strategic business assets.

Across the Air Force, Northwest Christian School, Apple, Knight-Swift Transportation, and Boeing, I have repeatedly been asked to evaluate learning systems that were not being used to their full potential. My work often involved reorganizing learning architecture, creating pull-learning environments, improving data tracking, developing custom reports, and aligning learning records to job requirements, compliance, pay progression, leadership visibility, and broader human resources needs.

This is where my thinking is different: I look at the entire ecosystem from a bird’s-eye view. I analyze the organization’s mission, existing tools, available data, learner experience, stakeholder needs, and operational constraints. Then I prototype, test, evaluate, and improve continuously so the solution evolves before problems become expensive.

Leadership story
